For the love of mankind

I don’t believe we need statistics to tell us that anyone who is suffering from domestic violence needs help.

However, a pre-covid survey, “Women’s Health and Family Life Experience”, conducted by the Government of Guyana and supported by UNDP, UN WOMEN, USAID and IDB, published in 2018 and said to has given the most comprehensive data on gender-based violence in Guyana, shows that “55% of women who had a partner in their lives had experienced intimate partner violence – the highest rate in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

Our Goals

For the Love of Mankind aims to help with the fight against Domestic Violence in Guyana. We aim to provide mental health services and aids to those plagued by this traditional curse. We will also conduct in-depth research and analysis to understand the root causes of domestic violence, with a primary focus on why men are often the main aggressors. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of these underlying factors, the organization can develop targeted interventions and prevention strategies.

Empowering Women to Heal and Support

For the Love of Mankind seeks to provide resources, support, and education to women who have experienced domestic violence. Through one-on-one counseling services, and empowerment programs, the organization aims to help women heal from their traumatic experiences and develop the skills and knowledge to support their partners who may be the main breadwinners in the family.

Breaking the Cycle of Generational Violence

We recognize that domestic violence can be passed down from one generation to another. To break this cycle, the organization will focus on providing education and support to families, with a particular emphasis on parenting programs that promote healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and non-violent communication.

Raising Awareness and Advocacy

For the Love of Mankind aims to raise public awareness about domestic violence, its impact on individuals and communities, and the importance of addressing the issue. Through advocacy campaigns, public events, and media outreach, the organization seeks to mobilize the community to take a stand against domestic violence and support survivors.

Holistic Support Services

For the Love of Mankind aims to provide comprehensive support to individuals affected by domestic violence by focusing on job placement, vocational training, and food hampers. The goal is to empower individuals affected by domestic violence with the necessary tools, skills, and support to achieve economic stability. By addressing the financial barriers that often perpetuate abusive situations, the organization seeks to create a pathway towards independence, self-sufficiency, and a life free from violence.

Engaging the Community

We recognize the importance of community involvement in addressing domestic violence effectively. For the Love of Mankind aims to establish partnerships with local schools, businesses, healthcare providers, and law enforcement agencies to create a network of support and resources for victims. Additionally, the organization will organize community forums, workshops, and training sessions to educate the public and encourage community members to actively participate in preventing domestic violence.

Policy and Legal Reform

For the Love of Mankind will work towards advocating for policy and legal reforms that prioritize the prevention of domestic violence. This includes collaborating with lawmakers, policymakers, and legal experts to strengthen existing laws, improve access to justice for survivors, and promote accountability and reform programs for perpetrators. By pursuing these goals, For the Love of Mankind aims to make a significant impact in stopping domestic violence, understanding its root causes, supporting survivors, breaking the cycle of violence, engaging the community, and advocating for systemic change.
